The main draw to Colombia was unquestionably Jill, Sebas, and his family. Since meeting Sebas in 2006 we have been eager to find out where this charismatic Latino came from and Sebas was just as eager to introduce us to his family and his country.

Finally meeting Sebas' family was everything we expected and more. We had met his parents and his aunt at their wedding, but had yet to meet the rest of the family. They are so warm and welcoming and have fed and sheltered us for nearly two weeks. Over that time we met his two brothers, several cousins and Jills sister in law, Adrianna (Adri).

Their home town, Manizales, had been described as “in the mountains” of Colombia, and it is, well, in the mountains. You see, most cities are built near the mountain, in valleys, or in a plateau on top of a mountain. Manizales is built quite literally on the side of a mountain. The view from their house is amazing and the hills around the city put San Fransisco to shame.

Can you imagine waking up to this every morning every day of the year?

Although Manizales has about half a million people, it has a very small town vibe to it. Jill, Sebas and the family regularly bump into people they know and going for walks on Sunday morning is very much a social activity.

We spent one lovely Sunday afternoon at a recreation centre where the kids could swim and slide around. Here's a video of the kids on the slip and slide.

Taro really liked it but Kiyoshi wasn't so keen for some reason.

All in all we have had a wonderful time staying with Sebas' family. Staying in Manizales, you could say that we were force to work on our Spanish and we got by communicating in Spanglish with Mariachi and Perrucho. It was so nice to stay with such a wonderful family in the mountains of Colombia.

El drenaje principal a Colombia era indiscutiblemente Jill, Sebas, y su familia. Puesto que resolviendo Sebas en 2006 hemos sido impacientes descubrir de adónde este Latino carismático vino y Sebas acaba de estar como impaciente presentarnos a su familia y a su país.

Finalmente encuentro de Sebas' la familia era todo que esperamos y más. Habíamos encontrado sus padres y a su tía en su boda, pero los teníamos todavía resolver el resto de la familia. Son así que caliéntese y dando la bienvenida y nos han alimentado y han abrigado por casi dos semanas. Durante ese tiempo encontramos sus dos hermanos, varios primos y a la cuñada de Jills, Adrianna (Adri).

Su ciudad natal, Manizales, había sido descrita como “en las montañas” de Colombia, y está, bien, en las montañas. Usted ve, la mayoría de las ciudades se construye cerca de la montaña, en valles, o en una meseta encima de una montaña. Manizales se emplea absolutamente literalmente el lado de una montaña. La visión desde su casa es asombrosa y las colinas alrededor del San puesto ciudad Fransisco shame.

¿Puede usted imaginarse el despertar a esta cada mañana diaria del año?

Aunque Manizales tenga sobre medio millón de personas, tiene mismo un vibe de la pequeña ciudad a ella. Jill, Sebas y la familia topan regularmente en gente que conocen y yendo para las caminatas el la mañana de domingo son mucho una actividad social.

El taro tuvo gusto realmente de él pero de Kiyoshi wasn' t tan afilado por alguna razón.

Cosiderándolo todo hemos tenido un rato maravilloso el permanecer con Sebas' familia. Permaneciendo en Manizales, usted podría decir que éramos fuerza a trabajar en nuestro español y conseguimos cerca de comunicación en Spanglish con Mariachi y Perrucho. Era tan agradable permanecer con una familia tan maravillosa en las montañas de Colombi
